LMS

Background

What is an LMS?

An LMS or Learning Management System is a combination of technology and services used to deliver course material to students and to facilitate course work.

How are the DATs involved with the LMS?

The DAT group provides analysis, research, and working experience as system administrators and more to assist the System-wide LMS Initiative in determining how it can best help the campuses meet their teaching and learning objectives.

LMS Collabs

My campus wants to work with other campuses on LMS strategies.  Where do I start?

In 2008, Gerry Hanley of the Academic Technology Services division of the Chancellor's Office began the LMS Collabs project.  Here's the overview:

To move campuses from a stand-alone LMS strategy to a scalable, sustainable, and collaboratively innovative strategy required to deliver academic programs cost-effectively across the CSU, the CSU Office of the Chancellor, in cooperation with CSU campuses, will support a structured means for campuses to productively participate in collaboratively learning, testing and implementing shared LMS services.  The CSU collaborative LMS projects or LMS Collabs will be managed through memoranda of understandings between the CSU CO and campuses.
