Why Campus Representatives Should Attend:

Many CSU campuses have significant decisions to make regarding the future of the LMS. Some questions that campus leaders may be asking are:

  • How did the CSU evaluate the potential LMS vendors and/or products? Would our campus rate them the same? Would the campus criteria be different?
  • How do we perform accessibility tests on our LMS and/or courses?
  • How do the Blackboard inaccessibility results affect my campus' ability to continue using Blackboard as our LMS? What are our options with Blackboard? If so, what are the best methods and processes for doing so?
  • What evaluation and best practices already exist that we can use to accelerate our process? How should we get started in the planning process?
  • What is the current state of the LMS market and what trends should we follow?
  • Should my campus explore Moodle as an open source LMS?  Does the MoodleRooms contract give us a safe method to go open source?
  • How can we benefit from the Moodle experiences on other campuses?
  • I know my campus should strategically plan for our future LMS system, but how should we ensure that we don't reinvent the wheel? Can we really collaborate with other CSUs to leverage our knowledge, skills, and resources?
Being fully aware of the time pressures we face on the CSU campuses while facing limited resources, the Chancellor's Office has set up an LMS Workshop to address these questions in as efficiently as possible.  CSU Campuses should send leaders involved in their campus LMS decisions to get a head start on effective planning around LMS system selection and usage.
